2009 Sturgis Bound Motorcycle Rally
Belen, New Mexico at Valencia County Fair Grounds
Personally being in the motorcycle community for many years and attending several rally’s nation wide, I have witnessed several benefit runs that either have helped fallen motorcyclist or helped raise funds for charitable organizations. These motorcyclist involved volunteered their time and were generous with funds in support of these organizations.
Being a South Dakota native, I have attended the Black Hills Rally held in Sturgis, South Dakota. The number of motorcyclists that attend this rally is in the 100 of thousands every year. Seeing the potential to create a rally with similar goals, that could be used to benefit a local charitable organization. With the help and support from the Road Flyers Riding Association (a local motorcycle association), the Sturgis Bound Rally came to be. The Sturgis Bound Rally is held at the Valencia County Fair Grounds in Belen, New Mexico the last weekend in July.
Our first annual Sturgis Bound Rally was held July 25-27, 2008. This rally honouring our fallen heroes from the 911 tragedy benefited New Mexico’s Police and Fire Departments survivor’s fund. The 2008 Sturgis Bound Rally was a great success having approximate 3200 attendees.
The 2009 Sturgis Bound Rally have chosen Special Olympics of New Mexico as our benefactor. The Special Olympics has given individuals with special needs the ability to say “Yes We Can”. When you look into the participates face, you see determination, and joy. This is so heart felt you couldn’t help but say “Yes You Can”.
The Sturgis Bound Rally has a goal to continue on expanding through the years. With the support of contributors like you, in conjunction with the City of Belen, Belen Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses, we expect to reach this common goal and watch attendee numbers grow.
Respectfully,
Hollie Jackson-Lloyd
